Who we are

School Tap is a parent app for following a child’s school arrival and departure, receiving school notifications, requesting pickup, and following the school bus when the school includes that service. This policy covers the parent app listed on Google Play.

Information we collect

• Account details: name, mobile number with country code, a password stored in hashed form, and email, city, or address if you add them.
• A one-time code sent by SMS to verify the mobile number.
• Child information provided by the parent or the school: name, school, class, attendance, departure and absence records, the NFC card assigned to the student, and pickup requests.
• Location: your location when you request pickup, the bus location during a trip, and the home-address coordinates you save so we can notify you when the bus is nearby.
• Device notifications about attendance, bus location, and pickup calls, delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging, and the app language sent by your device.
• If you write to us from the website form: your name, email address, and message.

How we use it

We use this information to run the account, show a child’s record only to that child’s parent and school, record attendance when the school scans an NFC card, send operational notifications, and provide pickup and bus tracking. We do not sell this information.

Children’s information

The app is for parents and guardians. It is not for children to create an account. Student information is information about a child, supplied by the parent and the school, and we use it only for school attendance, transport, and pickup.

Who can see it

• The child’s school and the staff authorized to manage attendance, pickup, and buses.
• Our SMS provider, to deliver the verification code.
• Google Firebase, to deliver notifications.
• The host that runs our servers.
• A public authority when the law that applies to us requires it.

Retention and deletion

We keep the information while the account is in use and the student is linked to the school. You can ask us, or the school, to correct or delete it. We delete it when the law does not require us to keep it.

Security

Connections use HTTPS. A child’s record is available to that child’s parent account and the linked school.
